BC is out! Final Score: Saskatchewan 33 BC 2. Lack of knowledge of the Canadian game hurt us pretty badly.

Also, congrats to Buddy Hutchison of ND for being named an outstanding player of the game.

I'm curious, what did they do or not do?

While I am a big proponant of Canadian ball, 31 points seems more than just not knowing the Canadian Rules.

Two of Sask's tds were punt recoveries in the end zone, one on a quick kick. That is good coaching by Sask, using some old school Canadian football tricks on them.

As Coach Roden has mentioned in the past, special teams are a crucial part of three down football. With most players, and all coaches playing American rules, they clearly failed to realize that special teams is atleast 1/3 of the Canadian game. It cost them 2 TD's. The Saskatchewan defense played very well, but some of BC's play calling was suspect. They also tried to install a spread offense in a couple of weeks, which showed incredible ignorance on the part of the coaches.

Okay, makes sense.

Its funny...(time for my editorial) The High School Coaches are so Anti Canadian Rules and I dont know why. They culd easilly play 4 down Canadian Rules (As they do in the Lake Shore area). They cry about a shortage of Officials in High School, yet I know if they were to change to Canadian Rules, several of the Community Officials would do both Community and High School. Can't understand the stubborness.

From what I understand, there are quite a few coaches in HS that have roots either in the States or in American football i.e. NCAA or NAIA. That might explain some of it. Maybe they just don't want to have to work that hard lol.

Thats a crock.... the main reason they dont play Canadian ball is because if they didnt they would lose their number one lie... if you want to go to the NFL you have to play High school..... Cause everyone knows the NFL scouts high school kids, especially Canadian high school kids......

Do to huge cuts in education spending, maybe High School plays American ball because of the large costs in cutting the grass and lining a Canadian-sized field. The American-size field is much smaller.

Besides, our educational leaders in Canadian public and private education know what's best for kids ie., playing American ball is a way of learning American history and showing or neighbours that we care, as well as developing high self-esteem because of the entrenched perception that you're playing a better game. A High School player and coach can then proudly say, "we play only American ball and we're good." Meanwhile, the taxpayers foot the bill for pubic education in BC.

I think something is seriously wrong here in Cascadia, whoops, I mean BC.!

It's pretty much what 1charger said, they think that by playing American rules they have have a better chance of sending players to NCAA Div. 1. I guess it was worth it for the one guy in all of BC that actually gets it. Of course, that completely ignores the fact that 90% of American HS teams do not play NCAA rules. What really gets me is how deluded some of these people are. I've talked to people who can't understand why "player X" at whatever NCAA Div. 2 school isn't starting "because he was such a stud in BC HS football!". Ill give the coaches credit, they would make good boxing managers. Set their team up against a weak, but American opponent and beat them 50-0 and you look like the greatest football mind in the world. If only Kelly and Kuduba had the time to "hone" the players, they could have brought the national championship back to America er I mean BC.

I've got my whole career laid out. I'm going to move to a higher level and coach under DK in high school. Then hes going to put me touch with a Junior College in Nowhere Alabama. I am going to build that program until an NCAA tier 3 school notices me and offers me a coaching position. I'll work my but off carrying bags on and off the field and hope one of the big schools notices me and offers me thier program which I am going to take. Once I establish that program I'll apply for the head coach position with the Dallas Cowboys which I most certainly will get.

By that time I should be right in my prime at about 103 years olds. And I will owe it all to making a leap to High School in 2010 and being mentored by the cream of the crop.

1charger, redmendman, you guys want to join me? Just think of the possibilities that High School can offer us.

Just out of curiosity, how many Team BC players are going Midget next year? On the roster I see Mason Woods from LMF and I know Buddy Hutchison is heading to ND, but what about Chris Pastro? I noticed he is listed as Belmont and not Cowichan.
